Celebrating my first day on Medicare.I had no idea that this month I would turn sixty-five until I received that red, white, and blue card in the mail. I have never thought much about aging or someone’s age. Seems irrelevant to me.
I mean I can see that my body has clearly changed. But, inside of me lives the same girl who played kickball as a kid. Life, of course, has not been what I would have chosen. However, I have gained wisdom, forgiveness, and reflection.
And in my bedridden state, I can honestly say, even though I have bouts of depression, that overall joy fills my heart.
